The new director hired to take charge of the Plainsboro Library for Jinny Baeckler, who retires at the end of the month, has an extensive background in the library and academic fields.

Eileen S. Burnash comes to Plainsboro from her most recent position as the library director at the Huntingdon Valley Library in Lower Moreland, PA. Prior to that position, she spent three years at Rutgers University as the assistant to the Dean of Public Affairs and Administration.

She has also had experience working in two libraries in New Jersey. She was the library director at the Clarence Dillon Public Library in Bedminster for three years and the library director at Mendham Township Library for a three-year period.

“She also had experience in the public sector in library-related positions at law firms and two major businesses,” said Mayor Peter Cantu.

Burnash, a resident of Basking Ridge, has a master’s degree in library science from Rutgers and an undergraduate degree from Northeastern University in Massachusetts.
