Mercer County Executive Dan Benson spoke recently at the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Trenton Economic Development Series at Cooper’s Riverview in Trenton.

Addressing an audience of over 150 local business leaders, Benson presented plans for several major projects and initiatives that will promote economic expansion in the Trenton.

Topics of discussion included: plans to boost tourism with the Celebration of America’s 250th Anniversary and a new Office of Travel & Tourism; the Trenton-Mercer Airport terminal replacement project; working through the Mercer County Improvement Authority to support residential housing development in blighted neighborhoods; and expanding the Minority & Women Set Aside program to bolster diversity in government procurement and contracting.

He also mentioned renovations to the Trenton ballpark and other waterfront improvements, including the Trenton Wharf Park Project, and the South Broad Street Vision Plan for redevelopment of the South Broad Street corridor

“We’re on the precipice of an exciting time here in Mercer County, with our rich history allowing us to play a central role in the 250th Anniversary of our nation, the upcoming improvements to Trenton-Mercer Airport, and key stakeholders committed to revitalization and investment in our Capital City and our county,” Benson said.

He added: “These plans create positive momentum for all of us, and we’re going to keep building on that momentum in the years ahead.”
