Playful Theatre Productions is set to present Working at Kelsey Theatre.

The musical is based on Studs Terkel’s best-selling book of interviews with American workers published in 1974.

The newest version of Working celebrates the lives and contributions of a school teacher, parking lot attendant, waitress, millworker, mason, trucker, fireman and stay-at-home mom, among other often overlooked workers.

Working features 26 songs by composers Micki Grant, Craig Carnelia, Lin-Manual Miranda, Mary Rodgers, Susan Birkenhead, Stephen Schwartz and Grammy Award winner James Taylor.

The ensemble cast features Vicky Czarnik of Langhorne, Pa., William Kamps of Burlington, Lisa Ernst of Hightstown, Fred Gropper of Yardley, Pa., Hannah Shaffer of Millstone Township and John Wishnie of Morrisville, Pa.

The production team includes director Jarad Benn, musical director Mike Gilch, choreographer Nicole Farina-Machin and stage manager Ruth Kresge.

Performances are set for 8 p.m. Nov. 1, 2, 8 and 9; and 2 p.m. Nov. 3 and 10 at Kelsey Theatre, located on Mercer County Community College’s West Windsor campus, 1200 Old Trenton Road. A reception with the cast and crew is set to follow the opening night performance Nov. 1.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, and $16 for students and children.
