Students from Grover and Community middle schools are statewide winners in the New Jersey History Day Competition. They will compete in the National History Day at the University of Maryland from June 12 to 16.

From Community: Carolyn Lipka, grade 7, “The Telegraph,” first place, documentary; Lauren Mandel and Varsha Mangal, grade 8, “Walt Disney,” second place, documentary; Keyer Naik, grade 8, “deKlerk and Mandela,” second place, historical junior papers; Deesha Sarma, grade 8, “Li Zhensheng,” third place exhibit; and Jamie Joseph, grade 8, “Performance on Tiananmen Square,” third place, performance. Nitya Sivakumar, grade 6, “Louis Hine’s Photography,” third place documentary. Sivakumar also received special recognition and a cash prize from Seimens Corporation for her coverage of technology in her documentary.
