The contest was designed to encourage New Jersey students in grades K to 12 to discover New Jersey’s rich history. Students were asked to submit two-dimensional artwork in any medium depicting one or more of the 50 state-owned historic sites.

The May 6 history fair featured more than 60 historical organizations, 10 military reenactment groups, and more than a dozen historical characters including Molly Pitcher, Walt Whitman, and Thomas Edison.

Student artwork will be on display in the visitor center throughout May.
