Girl Scout troop 70660 is set to host Downtown Princeton Scavenger Hunt one June 15.

The hunt, which is designed to pre-school and elementary school students, is set to begin at Princeton Public Library’s Children’s Department on the third floor. The library is located at 65 Witherspoon Street.

Children and their families can pick-up copies of the map and clues at the library from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Clues lead participants through Downtown Princeton where they are set to receive free samples, coupons and other offers from local businesses.

The first 25 participants are set to receive a special prize.

The twelve members of Troop 70660, all fifth-graders in Princeton schools, created the hunt as a community service project.

Earlier this year, while earning the Business Owner badge, the girls learned about what it takes to own a small business and the challenges local retailers face. Joanne Farrugia, owner of JaZams on Palmer Square, met with the girls at her store and talked about her own experiences as a business owner.

The troop decided to create a program that would benefit local businesses and encourage families to spend time downtown for their Bronze Award.
