The Township Council is cracking down on garbage placed on the curb that is not in its proper container. The council introduced an amendment to its ordinance on September 7 that prohibits property owners from allowing the garbage in their receptacles from spilling out onto the ground while waiting to be collected. It also prohibits garbage to accumulate next to adjacent to the receptacle.

According to the ordinance amendment, the language will now state that “any person who controls, whether owned, leased, or operated, a refuse container or dumpster must ensure that such container or dumpster is covered at all times and shall prevent refuse from spilling out, overflowing or accumulating adjacent to said container.”

A public hearing is scheduled for Monday, September 20.
