Grounds For Sculpture will debut a major solo exhibition of New Jersey-based artist Clifford Ward this spring, offering visitors a rare opportunity to experience more than a decade of his multidisciplinary work in one of Central Jersey’s most celebrated cultural destinations.

The exhibition, titled Clifford Ward: I’ll Make Me a World, opens to the public on May 18 and will run through Jan. 11, 2026.

It will feature more than 50 works, many never before exhibited, including sculptures, paintings, and mixed media pieces developed over the past decade—much of it created in Ward’s studio on the Grounds For Sculpture campus.

“Clifford Ward’s work is deeply rooted in both material exploration and cultural storytelling,” said GFS Executive Director Gary Garrido Schneider. “We are proud to host this landmark solo exhibition and to support the artistic voices emerging from our own community.”

The exhibition presents a “rich tapestry of themes and concepts” reflecting Ward’s expansive and layered practice.

It includes Animism (2013–2024), a signature work made from plaster bandage, acrylic paint, cowrie shells, and bamboo. The show has been guest curated by Noah Smalls, who brings a contemporary lens to Ward’s evolving body of work.

Located at 80 Sculptors Way in Hamilton Township, Grounds For Sculpture spans 42 acres and is one of Mercer County’s leading arts destinations.
