Maya Mau, a sixth grade student at Community Middle School; and Sanya Mehra, a fifth grade student at Millstone River School are winners in the Charles Lafitte Foundation’s Kid’s Corner winter essay contest. Each student will receive a Kindle Fire, plus $1,000 for their school library.

Students in grades 3 to 12 were invited to submit an essay by reading a book and writing about how the main character grows and changes from the beginning to the end of the story.

“As always, it was extremely difficult to choose winners among the many talented and insightful essays that we received,” said Kyra Citron, director of Kid’s Corner. “We are so happy to see the response from kids who chose to read during their winter vacation.”
