Plainsboro Public Library’s Change for Change campaign was off to a good start when 60 people packed the 1st Constitution Bank on January 28 to donate their change at the kick-off of the program. Participants emptied a rich variety of containers into the coin sorting machine. Silver piggy banks, velvet satchels, Tootsie Roll tubes, and colorful purses drained into the coin counter. Following the lead of Plainsboro Mayor Pete Cantu, local dignitaries and library supporters pitched in.##M:[more]##

Attendees took a stab at guessing how much the tally would be, for a chance to win a sparkling green trophy. Guesses ranged from a low of $77.11 to a high of $13,”500. With the official total announced at $892.38, Luke Burston, 5, of Plainsboro, who guessed $900, walked off with the trophy. Mike Huang, a reporter from Chinese News Weekly, was a close second, with a guess of $880.
