Capital Health completed an expansion of its emergency department at the Regional Medical Center in Trenton.

The emergency department is now equipped with 35 beds, including three beds designated for urgent care patients, making it the largest emergency room setting in Trenton.

The expanded Emergency Department adds to improvements made during the $100 million renovation that was completed in 2011.

The need for additional capacity reflects the breadth of Capital Health’s emergency services at the Regional Medical Center campus. Emergency services include the Center for Neurologic Emergency Medicine, which provides specialized care for patients experiencing symptoms or complaints that are neurologic in nature, and the Bristol Myers Squibb Trauma Center for severely injured patients.

Capital Health Regional Medical Center is located at 750 Brunswick Ave., Trenton.
