Ewing man found dead after driving into Mercer Lake

West Windsor Police are investigating a fatal accident this morning in which an 85-year-old Ewing man drove into Mercer Lake in Mercer County Park.

Traffic Officer Kyle Brown said that police and emergency services were dispatched to the lake at 8:34 a.m., in the area of the Caspersen Rowing Center to investigate a report of a car partially submerged in the lake near the rowing center docks.

The victim was located inside of the vehicle, a 2008 Ford Edge, and removed by the Trenton Fire Department Water Rescue Task Force. The victim, whose identity has not yet been released by police, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Also responding to the scene were West Windsor fire and emergency services; West Windsor Volunteer Fire Company No. 1; the Mercer County Prosecutors Office Serious Collision Response Team and Homicide Task Force; Capital Health Systems MICU; RWJ at Hamilton ambulance; the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office; and Eddie’s Towing.

The accident is still under investigation by the West Windsor Township Police traffic and & detective bureaus and the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office. Any witnesses are asked to contact Officer Brown at (609) 799-1222 or brown@westwindsorpolice.com.
