Mercer County to mark anniversary of Pearl Harbor attack

The Mercer County community will commemorate the the 73rd anniversary of the Japanese air attack on Pearl Harbor with a ceremony led by Mercer County Executive Brian M. Hughes this Sunday, Dec. 7, at noon.

Mr. Hughes will deliver brief remarks, followed by remarks by guest speaker Capt. Stanley Winowicz, U.S.N.R. This year’s program will also feature the tradition laying of a wreath at the base of the American flag, the laying of a second wreath by the Sons and Daughters of Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, a 21-gun salute by the Marine Corps League and the playing of taps by Walter Kramarz of the Mercer County Veterans Council.

The event, which is presented by Mercer County Veteran Services in conjunction with the Mercer County Veterans Council, will be held at Catholic War Veterans Post 417, 301 Grant St., Trenton. The public is encouraged to attend. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held indoors.
