The Mercer County Park Commission is seeking volunteers for its summer camps.

Individuals 16 years of age and older can help with the commission’s Baldpate Nature and Aquatic Adventure camp.

In addition to other camp-related duties, volunteers are expected to assist in leading campers through daily explorations, hikes, experiments and games.

Activities include fishing, insect catching and identification, bird-watching, orienteering, microscope lab, animal tracking, and many other nature and ecology-themed adventures.

Baldpate Nature Camp is scheduled for July 8 through 12 at Baldpate Mountain. Campers will explore the landscape surrounding the camp lodge and follow trails through the fields and forest.

Aquatic Adventure Camp scheduled for July 22 through 26 is hosted at Mercer Lake. The camp is designed to balance environmental science education with summer activities like kayaking, hiking, games and science experiments.

Additionally, as of April 9, there are still openings for aquatic campers.

Volunteers should be enthusiastic and love the outdoors.

Those interested should send an email describing relevant experience and dates of availability to Jenn Rogers at jrogers@mercercounty.org.
