Literacy NJ Looking for Volunteers

Share post:

My name is Jingping Huang. I originally came from China. I have been here for four years. I could not speak one correct English sentence four years ago. But today I can make a presentation in public using English. I can go shopping, to church, travel, and make new friends without much difficulty in terms of communication. Literacy New Jersey made this happen.

Three years ago, my friend told me to register in Literacy New Jersey to learn English. But I had to wait about three months for a tutor. Since I enrolled in this program, my English is getting better every day. It is a long and exciting journey.

The program helps me to learn English and improve my conversational skills, and open up my mind. I have learned many new words, idioms, and grammar. I also learn American culture, history, and daily life. The program provides one-to-one tutoring for students. The tutors give each student specific guidance, based on their English level.

Through this program, I also learn how to help others and how to make a contribution to our community. All of the teachers are volunteers, and staffers are so kind. They helped me to open the next chapter of my life. More volunteers are needed, please sign up!
