The Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Mercer is preparing to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

The foundation is set to host Celebrating 50 Years of Giving: Creating a Jewish Legacy Oct. 30 at Adath Israel Congregation in Lawrenceville.

In addition to celebrating 50 years of Jewish giving, the event will also celebrate the successful inaugural year of Life & Legacy. During the past year, the foundation launched Life & Legacy, a collaborative legacy giving program representing a shared commitment by area synagogues, agencies and day schools to work together to secure a more vibrant Jewish future. The program encourages legacies and endowment gifts to help to strengthen the local Jewish community.

Life & Legacy is sponsored and presented by the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Mercer and the Harold Grinspoon Foundation. Through the program, more than 100 donors have made legacy commitments during this past year to area Jewish organizations and synagogues.

Dr. Jeffrey R. Solomon is the featured guest speaker at the October event. Solomon is the president of the Andrea and Charles Bronfman Philanthropies, a family of foundations operating in Canada, Israel, and the United States. He is co-author, with Charles Bronfman, of The Art of Giving: Where the Soul Meets a Business Plan, which has been awarded the Axiom Gold Medal in Philanthropy.

The event will also feature speakers from the Jewish Community Foundation of Greater Mercer and The Grinspoon Foundation.
