Help Needed on MC Park Noise Issue

Share post:

Back in January it was noted at a Council meeting that a County Community Affairs Department staff member advised Councilwoman Alison Miller that a consultant was/would be hired to address the concert “noise” issues at Mercer County Park. To have the County recognize our neighborhood concerns, this truly sounds like a step in the right direction.

The Mercer County Park Concert series will begin with a concert now as early as May. Typically concerts have been held during the summer months of July and August only. What is the status of the consultant, what are the parameters of the study, and why have the residents of South Post and Old Trenton roads not been advised of any information and/or meetings? It makes sense to have this figured out prior to the very first concert.

Please note that my neighbor and I attended a freeholder meeting last August seeking help from the county in addressing our noise complaints. As you may be aware, the music starts much earlier in the day with a sound check. One concert had a two-hour sound check that ended at 5 p.m. to only have the rest of our evening filled with DJ music until the concert began at 7 p.m. Then to have loud concert music (that rattles your windows) until 10 p.m. or later is a very disturbing day for our neighborhood. In total that is more than eight hours of loud music just for one concert. We so badly need your help.
