FEMA disater loan application deadline is set for Jan. 30.

Individuals, small businesses and private non-profit organizations impacted by Superstorm Sandy are eligible physical property damage loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Mercer County’s director of communications Julie Willmot said about 130,000 homeowners, property owners and renters registered with FEMA for assistance but only 15,300 SBA loan applications were submitted thus far.

Additionally, Willmot said 35,700 businesses registered for assistance and fewer than 2,500 applications have been received so far.

Willmot said programs that may be available in the future will most likely be linked the the SBA application.

Willmot said business owners, homeowners, renters and property owners who do not apply for a SBA disaster loan application may limit their ability to ultimately obtain grants and other assistance that may become available.
