Farewell to Weavers

Share post:

On Plainsboro Founder’s Day, Mayor Peter Cantu told the audience that it was a bittersweet day for Township Committee member Michael Weaver, since this Founder’s Day would be his last one. Weaver and his wife Stephanie are moving to North Carolina in June.

Weaver has been a Plainsboro resident for 26 years, a township committee member since 1999, and involved in many community activities. He was a president of the WW-P Soccer Association and a member of Plainsboro Lions Club. He served on the WW-P School district’s strategic planning, cable TV advisory, and shade tree advisory committees, and the open space, farmland preservation and parkland task force. He was also a trustee of the WW-P Education Foundation. As a committee member Weaver is a liaison to the Department of Public Works, Council of Community Associations, Parks and Open Space, and the Veterans Monument Committee.

Of all the elected officials on the Plainsboro Committee, West Windsor Council, and the WW-P Board of Education, Weaver is the only African American.

I met the Weavers at a party and several township meetings. I told him that I’m running for WW-P School Board. He spoke with me for half an hour, explaining his campaign and election experience, giving valuable advice, and wishing me good luck. Stephanie Weaver was a teacher in the WW-P district and told me the history of WW-P schools.

I thank the Weavers for their long-term community service and good advice to me. I wish them the best.
