DanceVision Thanks Its Supporters

On December 17 and 18 DanceVision’s performance company premiered “The Snow Queen,” a full-length original ballet, at TCNJ’s Kendall Theatre. The ballet was the brainchild of our artistic director, Risa Kaplowitz, who began working on this creation just six months ago. She began with a score, piecing together the works of Grieg, Rimsky Korsakov, and Bartok. The story came to life in the form of colorful characters and brilliant choreography.

Our dedicated dancers, who range in age from 4 to 65, were given the daunting task of learning new choreography in just 3 short months, and they met this challenge with grace and skill. They were magnificent.

I would like to thank all of the people who helped make this performance possible. Their hard work and dedication was evident in every aspect of this production. I would also like to thank the community, which was so generous in supporting our endeavor. We sold more than 1,200 tickets for our premier weekend. On Sunday, our dancers performed for a full house, and the standing ovation made all of the work and stress worthwhile.

In April DanceVision will bring back “The Secret Garden,” another original ballet choreographed and directed by Kaplowitz. Visit www.dancevisionnj.org for more information. I would like to invite our community to join us for this production, and experience again the beauty and magic of classical ballet.
