Court Appointed Special Advocates is seeking volunteers in Mercer County.
The non-profit organization is committed to speaking up in court for the best interests of children who have been removed from their homes because of abuse or neglect. These children live in foster homes, group homes or residential facilities. CASA trains community volunteers who ensure that these children receive needed services and help in moving into safe and permanent homes. Advocates receive 32 hours of comprehensive training and ongoing supervision.
Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, have a valid driver’s license, a desire to help these at risk children and can commit at least 18 months to a child’s case.
CASA is scheduled to host one-hour information sessions 5:30 p.m. Oct. 16, Nov. 14 and Dec. 12; and 9:30 a.m. Oct. 29, Nov. 20 and Dec. 9. Sessions are set to take place at CASA for Children of Mercer County, 1450 Parkside Ave., Suite 22, Ewing.
