A Lot to Like in WW

Share post:

There are not a lot of decisions I made correctly in my life. But the decision to move into West Windsor 30 years ago was a decision I am very happy with.

I am very grateful for the education my kids received. I wrote on a couple occasions about how caring and how dedicated the teachers are.

I like the bike route in the neighborhood. It helped me a lot when I had a knee issue and needed bike exercise. I love the public services we have in this town. The road crews are great. They always keep the grounds beautiful.

I like the people. One night many years ago, I ran into a deer on Route 571. The collision popped both airbags in my car. A lady behind me who lived in the town stopped to let me use her cell phone to call for assistance and kept me company until my assistance arrived. I was so shocked; I didn’t even thank her.

I like McCaffery’s supermarket. The cheerful decoration, the friendly staff, and the list goes on and on. During Superstorm Sandy they opened the store to allow people to recharge their phones and laptops so that we can get through the storm as a community.

I like Stults Farm, the annual sweet corn picking, the strawberry field. It is the highlight of the slogan: buy local. I like the Farmers Market . I am excited to hear that they will be open year-round.

I like my neighbors. There seems to be an unwritten agreement not to fence off our backyards. The view from our family room into the backyard is so open.

I like the closeness to the train station. NJ Transit and Amtrak made it so easy on many occasions to get me to New York, Wilmington, Philadelphia, and DC.

With all the interesting eateries opened up in the past few years, West Windsor has become a more self-contained community. We can grab a decent meal without traveling too far.

I haven’t used the senior center much. Judging from the newsletters that I get, they are doing a fine job. I do remember huddling at the center at night during the Sandy power outage just to stay warm.

I know it takes a lot of administrative work to keep the township humming along. I want to take this opportunity to thank them for three decades of services. God willing, I will be able to enjoy their services for another decade or two.
