A Trenton man has been arrested for a fatal stabbing that occurred in the city in May.
Jahvel Hale, 26, is charged with first-degree murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon, said Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey reported.
He was located Monday afternoon, May 19, and taken into custody without incident on the River Line in Palmyra by the New Jersey Transit Police.
At approximately 7:05 p.m. Wednesday evening, May 14, Trenton police responded to Capital Health Regional Medical Center on a report of a stabbing.
Hospital staff stated a male with a stab wound to the abdomen was dropped off by a white, four-door sedan. The victim, identified as Jermaine Scott, 48, of Hamilton, was rushed into surgery, but succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
An investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department involving witness interviews and the review of video surveillance footage allowed detectives to identify the location where the stabbing occurred and Jahvel Hale as the suspect.
Following a verbal altercation between Hale and the victim, Hale stabbed Scott in the upper torso on the sidewalk in the 200 block of Tyler Street.
