Rusk medals in fencing tournament

Robbinsville resident JP Rusk medaled at a Regional Youth Fencing Tournament held at the New Jersey Fencing Alliance in Maplewood on Jan. 15. He trains at Robbinsville’s Fencing Club of Mercer County.

Rusk, a three seed, won four out of five bouts in the preliminary round of the Y10 boys’ saber event. In the elimination roun, he defeated the 6th seed 10-3. He then lost his next match to the eventual champion.

“I was very pleased with how JP fenced,” coach John Friedberg said. “JP works hard in practice and this result demonstrates that effort translates into continual improvement.”
