Fatal Route 130 crash under investigation in Robbinsville

An 80-year-old woman from Virginia was killed Saturday afternoon when her car struck a utility pole on Route 130, police said.

Officers responded around 12:15 p.m. to the southbound side of Route 130 near Church Street after a 2018 Nissan Altima crashed into a pole, according to Robbinsville police.

The driver, a resident of Stony Creek, Virginia, was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

There were no passengers in the car. The woman’s identity was not made public as of Monday afternoon, pending notification of next of kin, police said.

Stony Creek is in southern Virginia, about 45 miles south of Richmond.
