Applications are now open for the 2025 Robbinsville Township Youth Police Academy, a program designed to give local youth hands-on experience with law enforcement.

The academy, which runs from June 23 to June 27, will feature physical fitness, police demonstrations and practical exercises aimed at building self-confidence and discipline while strengthening relationships between officers and the community’s youth.

Students entering 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in September 2025 are eligible to participate in the academy, which will take place daily from 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., except for June 26, when the session will run from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. due to a special class trip.

The program will cover various topics, including crime scene investigation, arrest procedures, motor vehicle stops, fire safety, defensive tactics, and basic first aid.

To apply, students must submit a completed registration form along with a one-page essay explaining why they would like to attend the academy. Applications and essays are due by March 31, and should be sent to Lt. Thomas Egan at the Robbinsville Township Police Station.

Each participant will receive a t-shirt and hat to wear during the program. They should also bring a packed lunch and water bottle from Monday to Thursday. On Friday, the Robbinsville Township PBA Local #344 will provide lunch for attendees.

The week will conclude with a graduation ceremony, where family and friends are invited to celebrate.

The academy is limited to 30 students, so early registration is encouraged. For more information or to submit applications, contact Lt. Egan at tegan@robbinsville.net.
