Student music events set for January

Princeton University’s Department of Music has four concerts set for January.

Student composition concerts are set for Jan 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. in Taplin Auditorium in Fine Hall.

Works by undergraduates enrolled in Beginning Workshop in Musical Composition taught by Professor Paul Lansky are set to be performed Jan.9 Works by students in Advanced Workshop in Musical Composition taught by Donnacha Dennehy are set to be performed Jan. 10.

Baroque Solo Cantatas is set for Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Richardson Auditorium. Students enrolled in Projects in Vocal Performance are set to present works by Bach, Handel, A. Scarlatti, Telemann, Rameau and Clérambault.

A piano recital is set for Jan. 13 at 3 p.m. in Taplin Auditorium in Fine Hall. Pianist Jonathan Howe is set to perform works by Shostakovich, Ravel, Debussy, Brahms and Beethoven. He is also set to premiere Tetrachordal Etudes, a work by his father Hubert Howe.

A student recital is set for Jan. 19 at 7:30 p.m. in Taplin Auditorium in Fine Hall. Soprano Tara Naoko Ohrtman accompanied by Pianist Erin Greenfield are set to perform works by R. Strauss, Poulenc, Delibes, Mozart, and Bernstein. Mezzo-Soprano Samantha Kaseta and Violinist Anna Wuttig are also set to perform.
