Book forum set for Feb. 11

Author Victor Cha is the scheduled speaker at the Cyril Black International Book Forum Feb. 11.

The presentation is set for 4:30 in Princeton University’s Friend Center Room 006.

Cha is the D.S. Song Chair in the Department of Government and School of Foreign Service and director of Asian studies at Georgetown University. He is also the senior adviser and Korea chair at Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C.

Cha will discuss his book, The Impossible State: North Korea, Past and Future, published in April 2012.

In his book, Cha writes about North Korea’s history and the rise of the Kim family dynasty, including their relationship with the U.S.

The forum will be introduced by PIIRS Director Mark Beissinger. Discussants are Thomas Christensen professor of politics and public and international affairs and director of the China and the World Program, G. John Ikenberry professor of politics and international affairs and Gilbert Rozman professor of sociology.

The presentation will be followed by a book signing and a public reception. Books will be available for purchase by check or cash.

The Cyril Black International Book Forum is held in honor of Princeton University history and international affairs professor Cyril Black. Black was the director of the university’s Center of International Studies from 1968 to 1985 and a member of the faculty for 50 years.

The event is free and open to the public.
