Westminster Conservatory’s Cantus Choir performed at the White House on Dec. 16.
This was the ensemble’s fourth White House holiday performance. They also performed during the Clinton administration and twice during the Bush administration.
Cantus performed in the Grand Foyer of the White House, the large hall ,which is directly behind the Front Portico. They performed with soprano Judith Bettina, cellist Tomasz Ryzeczycki and Mary Elizabeth LaTorre as accompanist.
The choir is composed of 28 auditioned middle school students from Princeton and surrounding areas.
Choir members include Belle Mead resident Meera Shamiyeh; Columbus resident Sydney Mohr; Cranbury residents Christy Phillips and Elaina Phillips; Dayton resident Rhea Ravinchander; Ewing resident Katherine Venturo-Conerly; Lawrenceville resident Abigail Kurdzuk; Monmouth Junction resident Riya Srivastav; Plainsboro resident Sophia Zhuang; Princeton residents Sophia Greco, Spencer Knerr, Saumya Malik, Thomas Martin, Reecha Nakum, Charlotte Schultz, Khadijah Smart, Marine Tamada-Wu, Denzel Washington and Ana Weinglas; Princeton Junction resident Ann John; Skillman residents Kaela Milich and Riya-Aisha Patel; Somerset residents Julia Kebuladze and Maia Lim; Stockton resident Lauren Bruhl; West Windsor resident Reva Sangal and Nicole Tong; Washington Crossing, Pa., resident Ainsley MacIsaac.
Auditions for the ensemble’s 2014 season are scheduled for Jan. 18.
