Elementary school students were recognized at the 27th annual Caring Awards Breakfast, hosted by the Mercer County Professional Counselors Association at The College of New Jersey on June 4.

Members of MCPCA, counselors at local elementary schools, shared the deeds of kindness, respect and service to others completed by students in grades one to five who recognized at the breakfast ceremony.

Each elementary school was permitted to send one caring ambassador, representing all of the caring students in the building, to the breakfast.

One recipient serves on the school’s “green” committee, another serves as a mentor for younger children and others work as weekly tutors. Many volunteered to be “upstanders” on the playground, standing up for classmates who need a friend.
