On Saturday, Nov. 7, D&R Greenway Land Trust will host a presentation on Sagamore Hill to honor President Theodore Roosevelt and his conservation work. Among other achievements, Roosevelt established the U.S. Forest Service, signed into law the creation of five National parks and proclaimed eighteen new U.S. National Monuments.

Sagamore Hill’s new Superintendent, Kelly Fuhrmann, will speak about the history of the National Historic Site, which served as “The Summer White House,” where the President and First Lady “hosted luminaries from around the country and the world.” Sagamore Hill is currently closed for renovations.

The presentation will mark the closing of D&R Greenway’s current art exhibition, “People of Preservation.” This will be the public’s last chance to enjoy and purchase images currently on display in the Johnson Education Center barn. Multi-media art evokes Roosevelts, Rockefellers, Patagonia’s Doug and Chris Tompkins. They include tribute to local preservation heroes and dramatic scenes of preserved sites and the creatures who thrive there. Many works have sold during its brief tenure, a percentage supporting D&R Greenway’s preservation and stewardship.

The program will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m at D&R Greenway Land Trust, One Preservation Place, Princeton. A light reception will follow. To register contact rsvp@drgreenway.org or 924 4646. The program is open and free to the public.
