The Mercer County Basketball Hall of Fame committee has announced its inaugural class.
The induction ceremonies will take place on March 18 at 4 p.m. at Mercer Oaks.
Headlining the initial class that is a storied mix of players and coaches along with an official and a special contributor.
Class of 2018 inductees are set to include Father Clarence O’Shea, the legendary Trenton Catholic coach; Tal Brody, the great Trenton High player and Mr. Basketball in Israel; Kate Larkin, the St. Anthony’s and county’s all-time leading scorer; Dahntay Jones, from Steinert High and NBA fame; Emil Wandishin, the highly successful Ewing High coach; and Nick Werkman, one of the most prolific scorers ever at Trenton Catholic.
Also selected for enshrinement are Greg Grant, the former Trenton High great player and coach; Valerie Ackerman, former Hopewell Valley standout and current Big East Commissioner; Hollis Copeland, the Ewing High star that also played at Rutgers and with the New York Knicks; Norm VanArsdalen, the longtime IAABO Board No. 193 member and highly respected college official; Vicky Picott, one of the greatest athletes to come out of Hightstown High and later played at Rutgers; and George O’Gorman, long-time Trentonian reporter.
