Stony Brook Elementary fifth grade students, faculty and parents celebrated Diwali on Nov. 14.

The Diwali celebration was part of the fifth grade teaching teams’ goal to bring cultural diversity to light each year by celebrating a variety of cultural holidays.

During the Diwali celebration many families from various parts of India brought in traditional food and wore traditional dress. Students shared facts about the history of the holiday they celebrate with their classmates. A cultural display in the library allowed the entire school community to partake in the celebration.
