Hopewell Valley YMCA has announced that their annual “Spring for the Y” fundraising event will be held on April 28 at the Glenmoore Barn in Hopewell. This year’s event will honor Heidi Kahme and Dawn Blauth.

Kahme will be presented with the 2018 Larry Rothwell Social Responsibility Award, named for Larry Rothwell of Pennington Quality Market. As chair of the Hopewell Valley Municipal Alliance for the last 11 years, she has volunteered countless hours with HVRSD schools and has been active in many community efforts and committees, including the YMCA’s Pennington 5K Race, Hopewell Valley Come Outside and Play, Underage Drinking Town Hall Meetings, the Prevention Coalition of Mercer County and Generation Connection.

Kahme also serves on the board of the Hopewell Valley Arts Council and was a driving force behind the Hopewell Valley Stampede.

The YMCA will also be honoring Dawn Blauth of Pennington Bagel with the Community Leadership Award for her support of the Hopewell Valley YMCA and other local organizations. Pennington Bagel donates breakfast items to the Pennington 5K and other school and community events throughout the year.

The event will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and will feature a cocktail reception. Stationed and passed hors d’oeuvres will be provided by Emily’s Café and Catering.

Organizers say proceeds from the event support the Hopewell Valley YMCA’s annual campaign, which provides financial assistance to families for critical before and after school programming, summer camp and youth sports and allows the YMCA to offer free mental health first aid classes to the community, Special Olympics programming, and a free teen center for Hopewell Valley teens.

Tickets are available online at hvymca.org or by calling (609) 737-3048.
