The Northeast Animal Support Alliance is holding its first annual Spring Community Festival on Sunday, March 31 at Rosedale Mills — 101 Route 31 North, Pennington — to raise money and awareness for eight New Jersey-based animal rescue organizations.

In addition to the animal rescue groups, money will also benefit Capitol K-9 Association, which equips police dogs with bullet-proof vests. 100 percent of the funds raised will directly benefit these nonprofit organizations.

The festival will run from noon to 5 p.m., and be open to everyone and their pets, with no admission charge. The highlights include an Easter egg hunt and photos with the Easter Bunny (children and pets), all of which will be donation based.

There will be food trucks and local vendors on site, all of whom will be donating a portion of their sales to the rescue organization. Of course, there will be dogs and cats available for adoption to their forever homes.

Additionally, there will be an opportunity to bid on gifts cards and other services donated by over 50 local businesses, including the Blue Bottle Café, Diana’s Epiphany Hair Studio, Sourland Cycles, Erini Restaurant, Flutter Boutique, Honor Yoga, Starbucks/Lawrenceville and Budo Martial Arts, as well as a raffle for larger prizes.

Northeast Animal Support Alliance was founded and is run by Hopewell Township’s Kim Janel to help provide support, financial and otherwise, to reputable non-profit animal rescue groups and shelters.

Past support has included holding fund-raising events, securing emergency medical care, food and blanket drives, providing animal transportation, organizing adoption events, finding foster and adoptive families, and securing needed legal services free or at a reduced rate. Northeast Animal Support Alliance “is a rescue for animal rescues.”

If you have a rescue that needs help or a dog that needs re-homing, you can contact Kim through the Facebook page Northeast Animal Support Alliance, on Instagram or by email at ksjanel@comcast.net.
