Association of School Business Officials awarded the Hopewell Valley Regional School District’s business office for excellence in financial reporting.

The organization awarded its Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting to the office for meeting or exceeding its standards for financial reporting and accountability. The business office won the award for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year ending in 2012.

This is the first year the office submitted their annual report for the award. District business administrator, Robert Colavita, said he plans to reapply each year.

“This award can serve to give the community real peace of mind that the school district finances are being run effectively and efficiently,”Colavita said in a statement.

According to ASBO, the Certificate of Excellence award confirms a school business office’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency. Recognition through the CEO program can help strengthen a district’s presentation for bond issuance statements and promotes a high level of financial reporting.

ASBO International is a 100-year-old professional association of school business administrators and professionals that provides programs and services to promote the highest standards of school business management practices, professional growth and effective use of educational resources.
