Beginning July 1, Hopewell Township will be accepting individual permit applications for the municipal deer management program’s 2013-2014 hunting season.

The township said there are a limited number of open hunting spots this year because of returning grandfathered hunters.

Open permitted spots are set to be filled by lottery process. Once notified, successful applicants are required to participate in a hunter orientation, safety course and pay a $75 to receive their hunting and parking permits.

Permits are set to be valid for the entire hunting season; Sept. 14, 2013 – Feb. 15, 2014.

Applicants must be 14 years or older and have a valid New Jersey hunting license. There is a $25 non-refundable application fee.

All applications, additional forms and releases must be submitted in person by the applicant to the Hopewell Township Police Department, 201 Washington Crossing – Pennington Road, Titusville.

The police will accept applications 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The application deadline is July 17 at 4pm. Only completed applications will be processed.

Paper copies of the application, parcel location maps, number of hunters, permitted sporting arms, rules and regulations, township ordinance for Deer Management and authorizing Resolution are available in the township’s municipal building lobby.

More information and applications are online at hopewelltwp.org.
