Hopewell resident Diane Beebe used her singing voice to place in a pageant and singing competition in June.

Beebe competed in the Ms. New Jersey Senior America Pageant at Harrah’s in Atlantic City on June 4 and in the Shore Senior Idol at Algonquin Arts Theater in Manasquan on June 29.

The Ms. New Jersey Senior America Pageant is open to all women who have reached the “age of elegance,” 60 years of age. They are judged on their talent, evening gown, interview and philosophy of life.

During the pageant, Beebe sang Bring Him Home from Les Miserables. She was awarded third runner-up.

She then took second place in Senior Idol competition by singing O Mio Babbino Caro by Puccini.

Along with singing at local churches, Beebe is part of the Cameo Club, a division of the Ms. New Jersey Senior America organization. The group performs at nursing homes, assisted living facilities and senior clubs.
