The Watercolorist Unlimited artists are planning a show and sale of their artwork including local scenes, florals, barns, landscapes and seascapes for Saturday, May 6 at the Blackwells Mills Canal House.
Watercolorists Unlimited is a group of 10 accomplished watercolor artists who meet in each others’ homes once a month for a critique of their painting. The membership has changed over time, but the group has persisted now for 30 years.
They do around four shows a year, and the art that will be on display will be available for purchase.
Member Susan Ewart is a resident of Pennington. Ewart has been painting and drawing since she was a child.
“Art is an avocation for me,” she said. “I started working in watercolors in the 1970’s, and like the soft flow and emotions watercolors can express.” She also paints using oils and acrylics.
Ewart says all subject matter is of interest to her as she tries to create exciting interpretations of her subjects. She has a special love of animals which is reflected in her animal paintings, and she enjoys painting pet portraits.
Ewart is a full member of the Garden State Watercolor Society and Artists of Yardley and her work has been displayed in many juried shows.
The show hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Blackwells Mills Canal House is at 598 Canal Road in Somerset.
New exhibition at Gallery 14
Gallery 14’s exhibition this month features the work of Larry Parsons and Rhoda Kassof-Isaac.
Kassof-Isaac is one of the original founders 16 years ago. Her exhibition is a retrospective that sets out to demonstrating her talent as a photographer and a painter. Parsons’ sets out to demonstrate the colors of the night in abstract form. The exhibition is on view now through May 21.
Gallery 14 is located at 14 Mercer St. in Hopewell. It’s open Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5.
