The photographs of 12 local young people will be displayed in a special area at Gallery 14 on Saturday, Aug. 17 and Sunday, Aug. 18.

The exhibiting photographers took part in a July 24 photography event offered by the Hopewell Public Library and led by Gallery 14 members Dutch Bagley, Joel Blum, Becky DePorte and Alina Marin-Bliach.

Gallery 14 members’ photographs will also be on display throughout the gallery on these dates.

During the July 24 event, participants received photography tips and guidance from the Gallery 14 members. Each participant had the opportunity to work with each Gallery 14 member while photographing four specific subjects in Hopewell Park. Subjects included a gnarled tree, a bridge with the water beneath, the playground and wildlife.

While most of the participants will display their favorite photograph from the event, they had the option of using the insights and experience gained from the July 24 event to photograph any subject of their choice between July 24 and July 31.

Founded in 2001, Gallery 14 is a cooperative fine art photography gallery dedicated to exploring and promoting photography as an art form. Member photographers focus on a variety of photography types including documentary, street, landscape, abstract, macro, portraiture and wildlife. Gallery 14 presents monthly exhibits by members and guests each year, and participates in community events including Tour Des Arts and Holiday Passport.

Gallery 14 is located at 14 Mercer Street in Hopewell and is open between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
