Zonta Club of Trenton/Mercer is set to host the 11th annual Gourmet Garden fundraiser to support local nonprofit organizations.

Gourmet Garden features tastings from 19 local restaurants and wine and beer provided by Hopewell Super Buy-Rite Liquor Store in Pennington. The event is scheduled for Oct. 2 at The Stone Terrace by John Henry, 2275 Kuser Road, Hamilton.

At this year’s event, club members are set to present a grant benefit the Work Readiness Program of Crawford House of Skillman. Gourmet Garden has raised over $250,000 in its first 10 years for local non-profits that work to raise the status of women and children in Mercer County.

According to Zonta Club co-president Suzanne Methot, Crawford House’s Work Readiness Program is designed to help women recovering from drug and alcohol addiction find employment and achieve independent living.

Past recipients of the Gourmet Garden Grant have been InterFaith Care Givers of Mercer County, Mercer Street Friends Food Bank’s Send Hunger Packing Program and PEI Kids.

Funds raised through the event also provide scholarships for the Grace Brauninger Scholarship for women returning to school after age 25, clothing for the Children’s Home Society and back packs and school supplies for children in Trenton.

Gourmet Garden is open to individuals age 21 and older.

Tickets are $55 in advance or $65 at the door.
