High school juniors and seniors who reside in Hamilton Township have an opportunity to win an $1000 scholarship for higher education through the Louis Bay 2nd Future Municipal Leaders Scholarship Competition, a statewide essay contest sponsored by the New Jersey League of Municipalities.

Students that wish to participate in the contest should write an approximately 500-word essay focusing on the theme of

“What My Municipal Government Does Best.” The essay should be based upon the student’s perceptions or experiences with, as well as the public contributions of Hamilton Township Municipal Government.

One Hamilton Township student’s essay will be chosen by a judging committee to advance to the state semi-finalist round, where the League of Municipalities’ Scholarship Committee will select three winners. Each of the winners will receive a $1000 scholarship.

Participants must return their essays and completed scholarship applications to the Office of Mayor Kelly Yaede at the Hamilton Township Municipal Building located at 2090 Greenwood Avenue by 4:30 p.m. on March 10.

Application forms and contest directions are available at hamiltonnj.com under the “News & Announcements” section.
