One man dies in Hamilton Township shooting

A Trenton man died after he was shot multiple times in Hamilton Township last night, according to a statement from the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office.

Last night shortly before 11 p.m., Hamilton police responded to multiple calls for shots fired and one call that a man was heard screaming that he had been shot.

Police located Matthew J. Dukes, 28, in his vehicle on Cypress Lane near Chambord Court. It was apparent that Dukes was driving his car when he suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, according to a statement from police.

Dukes, believed to be of Edgewood Avenue in Trenton, was pronounced dead at approximately 12:30 this morning at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton.

The case is being investigated by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force. Additional information that will not impact the investigation will be released as it becomes available.
