Morgan Elementary School fifth graders Christopher Hummel, Jackson Pasiczynk, Emonie Mitchell, Jasmine Lewis, and Ryan Brady, with the help of their teacher Jaclyn Brettell, participate in a lip-reading activity to experience what it might be like to have a hearing impairment on March 26, 2014.

Students at Morgan Elementary School participated in Hamilton Township Schools’ third annual district-wide Project Unify event the week of March 24-28.

The Special Olympics’ Project Unify is dedicated to creating “communities of acceptance.” Activities centered on social inclusion and acceptance of all students.

This year’s theme was “We are Hamilton: One Team, One School, One Community” and focused on the idea of “I Can.”

Morgan students listened to announcements about perseverance and overcoming obstacles Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Throughout Wednesday, students participated in activities to experience intellectual and physical disabilities and engaged in discussions about individuals with disabilities who achieved great success.

The week culminated in a special guest speaker, Dave Schlossberg, who spoke about his struggles and triumphs learning how to walk, drive, and play piano again after he was injured in an automobile accident.
