Kisthardt Elementary School third graders had the opportunity to take a field trip to the beach to Jenkinson’s Aquarium in Point Pleasant.

Prior to the trip, students studied different aspects of a beach and the animals that make it their home during science lessons.

Students participated an educational program at the aquarium. They met Lucy, a harbor seal who is legally blind that was rescued off the coast, African penguins, sharks, stingrays, puffer fish, clownfish, snakes and turtles.

They also had a hands-on experience with a sea star, sea urchin and horseshoe crab.

Students had the opportunity to build sand castles and play in the waves at Point Pleasant.
