Joseph Chen wins Human Resource Leadership Scholarship

The Garden State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (GSC-SHRM) has announced Joseph Chen of Hamilton as the undergraduate student winner of its Human Resource Leadership Scholarship. As a student at Rowan University, Joseph’s clear interest and exceptional talent in the area of human resource management garnered him this prestigious honor which is granted to only one undergraduate student in the state.

GSC-SHRM awards two scholarships every year in the amount of $1,000 to an outstanding undergraduate and graduate student studying human resource management or a related field at a New Jersey institute of higher education. As this year’s undergraduate winner, Chen beat joins graduate student honoree Deana Fatovic of Rutgers University.

Established to cultivate and nurture the talents of future human resource leaders, the GSC-SHRM Human Resource Leadership Scholarship is annually awarded to two exceptional students currently pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in human resource management, personnel psychology, industrial/organizational psychology or labor relations through any university or college in New Jersey.

Scholarships are awarded by a panel of judges made up of experienced and accomplished human resource professionals, including members of the GSC-SHRM council board and additional members designated by the board. Selection is based on academic achievement, successful professional experience and a demonstrated commitment to a career in human resources. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA and have completed 60 credit hours to be eligible to apply.
