Hamilton resident Zoe Kurdakul is set to host an Alex’s Lemonade Stand to contribute to fight against childhood cancer

Eight-year-old Kurdakul was was inspired by the story of young Alex Scott, a childhood cancer patient, and her determination to make a difference.

In 2000, four-year-old Alex announced that she wanted to hold a lemonade stand to raise money to help find a cure for all children with cancer. Since Alex held that first stand, the foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement, complete with thousands of supporters across the country carrying on her legacy of hope. To date, Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation has raised more than $75 million toward fulfilling Alex’s dream of finding a cure, funding over 375 pediatric cancer research projects nationally.

Kurdakul plans to offer organic lemonade and gluten-free lollipops to those who wish to make a donation. She hopes to raise $400.

Kurdakul lemonade stand is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 7 at 57 Beech Ave., Hamilton.
