Hamilton police are searching for a driver who was involved in a hit and run on North Johnston Avenue yesterday evening.

Around 7:40 p.m. April 22, police said Rudy Alvira, a 29-year-old Hamilton resident, was walking across North Johnston Avenue at Robert Avenue when he was struck by an unknown vehicle. The vehicle — which police said was possibly black — was making a U-turn on North Johnston Avenue, and fled in an unknown direction after hitting Alvira.

After the crash, Alvira was able to walk a short distance back to his home. A family member took him to Capital Health to treat his injuries.

The crash is under investigation by officer Paul Micharski. Any witnesses are asked to contact the Hamilton Police Traffic Unit at (609) 581-4000. Information may also be left anonymously on the Hamilton Police Crime Tip Hotline at 609-581-4008.
