Students graduate from Kiwanis’ Safety Town

Pre-school students graduate from Ewing Kiwanis’ Safety Town on June 28, 2013.

Ewing Kiwanis Safety Town class of 2013 graduated on June 28.

Since 1981, Ewing Kiwanis has provided a miniature town constructed in a school gymnasium to serve as a course for safety lessons.

The program is designed for pre-schoolers in Ewing Township and includes lessons in traffic safety, school bus safety, stranger safety, dialing 911 for family members and accident prevention.

Participants visited Prospect Heights Fire Department where firemen taught what to during a fire and not to play with matches.

Students also has hands on experience with an emergency ambulance and paramedics team.

This year’s 43 pre-school students enrolled in the Safety Town program and were aided by 24 Ewing student volunteer counselors.
