PEAC Health & Fitness plans to support HomeFront of Mercer County in November with a non-perishable food collection for HomeFront’s food pantry and a display of original works of art produced by the members of ArtSpace at HomeFront’s Family Preservation Center. Located in Lawrenceville, HomeFront is dedicated to breaking the cycle of homelessness in Central New Jersey.

Through the food pantry, HomeFront distributes approximately 700 bags of free groceries to low-income families each month. In addition, the Emergency Food Bag program allows clients to receive a grocery bag filled with a week’s supply of food from the food pantry once per month. A portion of the food in the food pantry comes from local food drives, such as the one at PEAC in November.

Appropriate items include canned meats and vegetables, hearty soups, low sugar cereal, peanut butter, jelly, rice, pasta and sauces, juices and shelf milk.

HomeFront provides an array of preventive emergency and long-term support services for families who are in danger of becoming homeless. These services include temporary shelters, affordable housing, educational programs for children, and life-skills and employment readiness training for adults.

The HomeFront ArtSpace display and food drive at PEAC are open to the public. For more information about HomeFront visit homefrontnj.org. For more information about ArtSpace, contact Ruthann Traylor at RuthannT@homefrontnj.org.
